What We Can Do

If your current sails are still in a reasonable condition, but are starting to show the stress and strain of a few years’ service, then now could be the time to consider a re-cut.

The effect that an experienced Sailmaker armed with a pencil, pair of scissors and a sewing machine can have on tired sails is amazing.

The list of re-cuts and upgrades is endless and you may well find that some of them will substantially help your sailing or improve your enjoyment through making the simple sail handling operations far easier. For instance, many people fit ‘Lazy Jack’ lines – often with a Packaway (Mainsail stacking system). Quite commonly this brings about problems with the battens catching on the Lazy Jacks when hoisting or dropping the sail. An upgrade to our ‘Powermain’ (75% length) battens will very often alleviate these troubles. Alternatively, you may opt to upgrade to Full Length Battens – in which case the choice of hardware is critical. Each year we are asked to upgrade Full Batten hardware fittings on several Mainsails to improve their performance and it is surprising just what a difference can be made!

Other options for upgrades are listed here:
