WOVEN POLYESTER

Woven styles of sail cloth are available in a range of different weights making the cloth suitable for a number of uses; from cruising around the harbour to club racing or ocean sailing. The finished weight, strength and Performance Durability of the material is primarily determined by the size of the fibres used in the cloth’s construction, the tightness of the weave and the finishing processes used.

 

PBXS

PBXS

This is a Kemp Sails name for Polyester materials selected from either Dimension Polyant, Contender of Challenge sail cloth suppliers. PBXS is used on our entry level sails so we select the exact style to best suit your specific sail requirements and budget constraints. Most commonly used are Dimension OC and Contender Super cruise or AP.

 

Portland Premium

PORTLAND PREMIUM

This is our Kemp Sails name for Polyester materials selected from either Dimension Polyant or Contender that are used on our Performance Premium ranges. Select from two suppliers these premium Polyester styles are best suited the sail in question based on your sails aspect ratio and intended use.

 

Fibercon

FIBERCON® AP

Fibrecon® AP is high tenacity polyester cloth that is a competitive price without compromising on the quality or durability of your sail. Woven from Contender’s Fibercon® yarns, and finished in Polypreg, the all purpose Fibercon AP can be used in a range of cruising sails.

SQUARE

Dimension Polyant’s Square is recognisable by its ripstop pattern woven into the substrate by using either 500 or 1000 denier yarns in both the warp and fill direction. This yarn pattern creates a premium polyester cloth that is extremely stable and strong, reducing the stretch of the cloth in all directions.
Suitable for cross cut sails and vertical cut we use this material to build headsails and mainsails in both our racing and cruising ranges.

Vectron

VECTRON

Vectron cloth combines the properties of two premium fibres, High Strength Polyester and Low Stretch Vectran®. The resulting cloth is a tightly woven fabric that is extremely stable and less likely to degrade at the same rate as other cloths, leading our team of design experts to recommend it for distance cruising and offshore sailing. As well as being highly durable this cloths qualities makes it a great selection for in mast furling application and performance cruising sails. Accompanied by Dimension Polyant’s very own UVi® technology this cloth has one of highest level of UV stability.

HydraNet

HYDRANET® RADIAL

For our customers with larger cruising boats, HydraNet® Radial is a top of the line cloth when laminates are not desired. HydraNet® is a woven material that incorporated a high amount of Ultra-PE fibres in the warp direction with high tenacity polyester yarns. The tight weave of the Ultra-PE yarns paired with high tenacity polyester give HydraNet® a number of unique qualities:

– Superior shape retention when used in a tri-radial panel layout – Visually looks like a traditional Dacron sail – High tear strength to weight ratio – Breathable

Pro Radial

PRO RADIAL

Pro Radial cloth is a woven cloth achieved through a low crimp construction. The crimpless warp marks a revolution in sailcloth manufacturing, making the fabric comparable to polyester laminates in stretch and weight whilst keeping the woven polyester durability. Accompanied by Dimension Polyant’s very own UVi® technology this cloth has one of highest level of UV stability.
