NYLON CLOTHS
Nylon cloth has more elasticity than woven polyester fabrics. All the ranges of nylon that we carry are available in a number of colours and varying weights. Whilst most nylons fly in light winds, we sometimes recommend lighter versions for particular downwind purposes.
AIRX
Bainbridge AirX is a premium range of performance spinnaker fabrics that combine strength , performance and quality. Utilising the latest manufacturing techniques and high tenacity 6.6 yarns in a high density double ripstop weave, AirX enables us to manufacture lighter sails with higher wind ranges that have exceptional burst and tear resistance. The finishes and elongation figures of the cloth make AirX ideal for modern asymmetric sails using a step up step down construction, with double ripstop weave that delivers exceptional burst and tear strength, reducing damage from rig contact and handling and a wide range of colour choices. The fabric bias is specifically engineered, and high water repellence reduces sail weight.
These cloths come in ranges that are suitable for both symmetric and asymmetric spinnaker construction.
NYLITE / MAXILITE
Nylite and Maxilite are two cloths from Contender that are impregnated with a durable melamine finish and developed with a cruising sailor in mind. The choice of whether your sail is constructed from Nylite or Maxilite depends on the size of your boat and the conditions in which you are planning to sail.
These cloths come in ranges that are suitable for both symmetric and asymmetric spinnaker construction.
STORMLITE
Stormlite has been developed by Contender for constructing radial cut spinnakers. Stormlite is able to retain its shape under extreme conditions due to the high tensile strength of polyester yarns. The combination of these polyester yarns with melamine impregnation makes this cloth a able to retain its shape better than most, leading our experts to recommend this cloth for cruising ULGs and a number of asymmetric spinnaker applications.
These cloths come in ranges that are suitable for both symmetric and asymmetric spinnaker construction.
PN NYLON
PN Nylon from Dimension Polyant comes in a number of styles making it suitable for a number of spinnaker applications. Its smooth finish and high dimensional stability along with its tear resistance makes it suitable for performance cruising or for small yacht racing applications.
SUPERLITE / SUPERKOTE
Suitable for regatta racing Superlite and SuperKote from Contender are unique polyurethane coated spinnaker fabrics that are available in a large range of weights. The stability of these cloths along with the variety of weights available, enable our design team to combine different weights of suitable fabrics to achieve the best strength to weight ratio for your spinnaker. The Polyurethane coating ensures that there is a high stability, low weight, 0% porosity and a high water repellency across your sail.
These cloths come in ranges that are suitable for both symmetric and asymmetric spinnaker construction.
DYNAKOTE
Contender’s DynaKote 70 / 75 are high performance spinnaker fabrics with high stability whilst remaining low weight. With an exclusive DynaKote finish adding Nano surface coating to the fabric this cloth comes with a number of features that are suited to spinnakers on yachts that race:
A slippery surface, enabling to you hoist, lower and gybe your spinnaker quicker and smoother.
Excellent water repellence that ensures your spinnaker stays light and dry for longer periods of time, maintaining the cloth’s bias stability even in the toughest conditions.
