ANGUS KEMP || SAILMAKER
I’m Angus although most people call me Gus. I am (some say) fortunate to have founder and Managing Director, Rob as my father. I’ve grown up around boats as you can imagine with who my parents are, with my first outing as a 6 month old baby on the family yacht and have spent many hours cruising with the family and friends in the UK and on holidays in the Ionian- Greece.
Not surprisingly, having joined the junior training section at our club I’ve also been competitively racing single handed dinghies in junior, youth and senior fleets since I was 6 and have had the opportunity to race in some beautiful places in the UK and across Europe and now have the pleasure of sharing my knowledge and skills with the junior and youth sailors coming through the ranks as a RYA race coach giving them the opportunity’s I once had. I’ve recently taken a break from competing at a world class level in my ILCA and can now be found trying to master the skills required to helm a Waszp as well as racing in the J70, Cape 31, IRC events onboard a JPK 1180 and XOD fleets and will pretty much jump onto any boat doing any job as often as I can!
In early 2024 I purchased an MG Spring 25 (Howards Way TV series yacht for those of you my parents age!) which I cruise and club race with my friends in Poole Harbour having a good time with good people. So, in a nutshell, I live, breathe and talk yachts, sailing and racing from the time I wake up in the morning till the time my head hits the pillow, whether it’s racing, cruising or having a beer with friends on deck after an epic day on the water!
